Divo in conversation with: Hair and make-up artist Sherri Jessee

Sherri Jessee is one of the most desired, yet easily approachable internationally renowned hair and makeup artists. With over 20 years of experience as a successful salon owner, stylist, and platform artist, Sherri has amazing talent in hair, makeup, and fashion editorial work. Her hair and makeup work is featured in acclaimed print publications as well as online including Cosmopolitan, OK!, Beauty Entertainment, Fox News, MTV Style and Salon International.  A former core team member of the brand Rusk’s Creative Team. When she isn’t jet setting to Sydney, Mumbai or Milan, Sherri can be found in her Intercoiffure salon in Bristol, Virginia.

Why do you think you decided to become a hair stylist?
From an early age I could be found drawing pictures of hair, cutting and styling. Can you believe I was 11 years of age?!
What are the things that inspires you?

Making people feel and look good.

Who are some of your favorite clients you've worked with?
It was a huge honor to work with Host of Entertainment Tonight, Nancy O'Dell. I really enjoy working with top models because I can have creative freedom and they are so gorgeous.

 Which are your favorite hair products? 

A great working hairspray is a MUST.

 Which styling tools do you use most often? 

Super powerful blowdryer, 1" flat iron and 1 1/4" curling iron.

How do you feel hair relates to personal style? 
Our outward style can be a direct reflection of our inward personality. Classic, Bold, Daring, Conservative, Creative... 

Name three celebrities whose hair you would love to style. 
Jennifer Lopez, Rooney Mara, Michelle Williams

How do you think that hair relates to a person's confidence?
It is proven that when we look good, we feel better. Having a great hairstyle is essential to having a positive outlook.

What is the best way to tame frizz?
 A few drops of an essential oil and using the concentrator nozzle on your blow dryer.

What are some hair styling don'ts?
 Don't try too hard. If you have a great cut and color, looking good will be easy to acheive.
 According to you what is the biggest hair trend this season.Braids are really hot and so quick and easy to do. I love the creative aspect of them.

Which is the hottest hair colour at the moment? 
Golden Blondes, Vibrant Coppers, and Decadent Chocolates.

How do you take care of your hair?  I shampoo and condition every other day, apply a leave-in conditioner and blow dry. For special occasions, I spray with a heat protecting spray and wrap on a 1" iron.

What is the one advice you always give your clients?
 Your hair should accentuate your beauty. Find a style that works with your face shape and natural texture.

One hair product every woman must buy. 
A good hair brush.

A hairstyling trick that always works. 
Twist your hair up on top of your hair into a bun while you sleep. When you take it down in the morning, you will have beachy waves.
