Lakmé Fashion Week: Bollywood Off The Runway

While the ramps at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 gave us everything we could have hoped for and more in terms of the Bollywood quotient; the red carpet too, sparkled with celebrity presence.

International star Freida Pinto dropped in on Day 2, wearing a creation by famed designer Naeem Khan. She paired her one shouldered, incredibly detailed dress with an updo and braids and let the dress make a statement. Also seen on Day 2 were Neha Dhupia and Asin –while the former kept her hair natural, Asin tied hers super high and let it cascade down one shoulder.

Genelia D’Souza gave us an easy chic appearance, complementing her blazer-and-jeans ensemble with a simple updo and bangs. Also going for simple elegance was Esha Gupta, Manish Malhotra’s WIFW showstopper, in a Manish Malhotra saree paired with wavy hair over one shoulder.

We found Poorna Jagannathan foregoing her usually curly cropped hair for a straight style, making her features look more delicate than usual. Shahzaan Padamsee also went for straight hair, though she pulled hers back in a sleek ponytail.

Vidya Balan brought tight corkscrew curls to the red carpet, a look not many can wear flatteringly. It seemed to work fine for her, though we prefer the looser waves she wears naturally.

Making a statement – literally – Jacqueline Fernandes was spotted in an ‘I’m Too Sexy To Be Cruel To Animals’ tee with her hair tied up away from her face. We have to say we love the image, there’s nothing better than mixing fashion with a good cause, wouldn’t you agree?

We’d love to try some of these hairstyles out at home and we’re sure you would too. So just let us know if you’d like any tutorials on how to recreate a particular red carpet hairstyle and we’d be happy to oblige!
