Pamper Your Hair Post-Holi

While even the staunchest of hair care fanatics will abandon all reserve when it comes to Holi, there’s often that feeling of dismay when you walk into the shower, dripping colour from every pore.

Of course, the one hair care rule everyone follows before playing Holi is to apply oil generously. If you didn’t already do that, then this post is reaching you a tad too late and you must be going through hell trying to get the colour out of your hair. Well, there’s always next year. The oil is an essential step though - it works as a shield between the colour and your hair, allowing a minimum amount of the chemicals and colour to actually seep through.

Applying oil also forms a part of an important post-Holi hair care routine. Most people’s hair turns out dry and brittle even with the protective layer of oil. The first step to combat this dryness post-Holi is to wash your hair out thoroughly with plain water, until most of the colour leaves it. Next, wash your hair out with a mild shampoo.

The colour probably won’t leave your hair yet though – it can be stubborn like that. You need to keep applying oil, either coconut or olive, for the next couple of days and then washing your hair out.

Once you get most of the colour out of your hair, try a deep conditioning treatment to return your hair to it’s usual lustre. L’oreal Professionnel makes an Absolut Repair Deep Conditioning Mask that’s perfect for this very purpose; make sure to apply a little extra to the ends of your hair, which tend to be the driest.

Finish up with a conditioning serum like the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. It’s an anti-frizz serum that’ll inject your strands with some moisture and shine. We love it!

Now that you know how to take care of your hair post the colour-apocalypse that is Holi, you don’t need to worry about how many chemicals you’re actually subjecting your scalp to. Stay on the safe side though and use organic colours. Happy Holi!

Try the L'oreal Absolut Repair Deep Conditioner and the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum for a boost of moisture
