5 great hairstyles for the working woman

Have you been feeling like you need to step it up with your work wear? Most of you probably don’t even have the time. It’s the story of every working woman’s life.

However, there’s a super simple solution. Start wearing your hair a little better, a little more creatively…you won’t have to put much thought into it and even lesser time. And then no matter what you wear, you’ll look right on top of your game. Just don’t turn up in your PJs.

We’re giving you 5 really simple hairdos for five working days of the week. Low maintenance, but high on style. All you need to do is find those couple of minutes before the mirror.

Monday: Oh, the most dreaded of all days. It’s the morning when you just do not want to get out of bed and so will have the least time to spend getting ready. Worry not, we’ve got the simplest styling tip for you: poker straight hair. It’s the neatest, fastest way to style your hair. Rub some product into it when you’re done with the straightener so smooth those flyaways.  If you already have poker straight hair (no one’s a stranger to permanent straightening) just carefully hold up the front two inches, twist them to one side and secure with a bobby pin.

Tuesday: Let’s add a bit of volume, shall we? Amp up your ponytail with a little bit of backcombing and you’ll have a very simple solution to an otherwise very boring hairstyle. Wear your ponytail low and messy like Victoria Beckham here, or high and sleek like Aishwarya Rai. Brushing your hair in the opposite direction on top, then smoothening it over once before you tie it can help you perfect both styles. If you want more ponytail styles, check out our article here.

Wednesday: Most of you are probably familiar with Blair Waldorf and her quirky headbands. We love this particular hairstyle of hers – hair half up, half down, curled at the bottom with a hair band on top. If you don’t have the time to curl the bottom part of your hair its fine, this style will look good even with straight hair. The secret’s in the hair band – check out DIVO’s new range of hair bands here.

Thursday: You already know the top knot is one of our favourites. For those of you who haven’t read our how to article, you can find it here. This is a hairstyle you can achieve in 5 minutes and if you work at an office that isn’t too conventional, you’ll find that the messier you wear it the better. You can even accessorize with pins or a band if you like!

The top knot takes only 5 minutes of your time on a Thursday morning

Friday: It’s the last day of the week for most and you probably have some after-work plans to kick start the weekend. Try the super funky side braid – sweep all your hair to one side and then braid it so it hangs low over your shoulder. Messy works better, but keep your hair away from your face for a more structured, solemn look. Take your braid from day to night with the addition of a few simple accessories.

The side braid may take a few minutes, but is perfect for bringing in the weekend on Friday

We’ve given you one hairstyle a day for the coming week, so arm your dresser with the required bobby pins and hair spray. Because - to quote a chick flick - feeling good about looking good will make you feel good, period.
