WIFW Autumn/Winter 2013: Day 4

It was an extraordinary day for hair and beauty on day four at Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2013. As we mentioned in our earlier posts, Shivan & Narresh, Péro by Aneeth Arora, Pia Pauro were just a few of the names we had to look forward to.

Designer duo Shivan & Narresh showcased sleek hair that was pinned up and made more characteristic with short, choppy bangs. The straight fringes only accentuated the elegant silhouettes that were on display.

Day four also had us looking forward to the Vogue Fashion Fund 2013 designer Aneeth Arora, with her quirky collection of circus-inspired ensembles. What with the balloons, red noses and juggling pins that were on display, the theme wasn’t really lost on anyone. Detailing included hates in various colours and patterns, placed jauntily over pinned up hair. Any models that weren’t wearing a hat simply had their sleek hair neatly parted to one side and pinned up.

Pia Pauro gave us a tiny look-see into old world glamour, with a few models strutting out with hair embellishments that sparkled and caught the light. A few others had their hair wrapped in turbans - not unlike those seen at Anupama Dayal, but more traditional.

And lastly at Sanchita, we found that a bit of volume goes a long way. Voluminous updos with loosened hair around the face made for a wonderfully casual-chic look. Also seen were over-the-shoulder braids with plenty of volume at the top – now that’s a hairstyle we’d love to try out!

For day five of WIFW Autumn/Winter 2013, Manish Arora gives us a look at his Autumn/Winter collection. Check back with us tomorrow for the grand finale!

WIFW Autumn/Winter 2013: Day 3

Starting off on a low note, day three at WIFW Autumn/Winter concluded with three of the fashion industry’s most prominent designers – Abraham & Thakore, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Manish Malhotra.

Designer duo Abraham & Thakore gave us statement wet looks with hair that was pushed away from the face and then, in some cases, twisted over one shoulder. Not the kind of hairstyle any of us can pick up this season of course, but it worked wonders for his designs.

As for Rajesh Pratap Singh’s show, the runway was taken over by a delightful selection of hairstyle. Funk, funk and more funk. Top buns, bouffants, and updos… even gorgeous inserts of colours brightened the show up no end. In places, wool caps with earflaps were used as accessories. Let’s just say the collection was the most winter-appropriate one we’ve seen so far.

Manish Malhotra’s ‘Threads of Emotion’ Autumn/Winter 2013 show was (of course) a wonderful display of colour and handiwork. Not to forget, the Bollywood constituent that is a given for any of his runway collections. This time it was Esha Gupta, Jacqueline Fernandes and Siddharth Malhotra who took centre stage for B-town’s favourite designer.

With their hair styled right down to the last detail, Esha Gupta and Jacqueline Fernandes walked the ramp in long braids that cascaded down their backs, with gold ornamentations woven into them. One with a French braid and the other with an intricate-looking twisted top, the two carried their show-stopping styles with some serious panache.

So the glamour-filled day 3 has left us wanting more, and day 4 of WIFW is showing promise with Shivan & Narresh and Vogue Fashion Fund’s Aneeth Arora taking the stage, amongst others. Stay tuned!
