Do's & Don'ts for the Pixie cut hairstyle

As we saw in our previous Oscar 2014 round-up, a hairstyle that made waves for its effortlessly, elegant form was the Pixie cut.

The Pixie cut, known for its cropped length and sophisticated edge, is a favorite among many Hollywood beauties including Anne Hathway, Jennifer Lawrence,  Audrey Tautou, Halle Berry, Emma Watson, Rihanna and even yesteryears stars like Audrey Hepburn, Mia Farrow and Twiggy sported them.

In this series of posts, we’ll be speaking about Pixie cuts, what makes them look so phenomenal and whether you should take the plunge and opt for them.
Summer can be a sweltering season and apart from light clothing and cooling cocktails, a pixie cut is the perfect hairstyle to sport this season. Not only is the length of a pixie cut conducive to the weather but its laid back charm and edgy yet sophisticated vibe can be a whole new look for you.

The foremost question before you can take the plunge and chop is whether the pixie cut is right for you so here’s a few tips and tricks to help you get started on the preparation that the Pixie cut requires:

  • Prior to just about any Pixie cut research that you do, take a look at yourself in the mirror and study your look to find out your exact face shape. Once you are aware of them, you can know what hairstyle would be ideal for you. Oval, Square and Heart-shaped faces are best suited for Pixie cuts.

  • A good thing is that Pixie cuts suit all kinds of hair textures. If you’ve got straight hair, that would be ideal. However, if you have wavy or curly hair, it doesn’t mean that you cannot get the hairstyle, it just means that the hairstyle would take more effort from you, it terms of hair care.

  • Pull your hair up into a faux pixie style and study how it will compliment your face. If you have delicate features which lean towards being finer and angular, the Pixie cut would suit you perfectly. A short neck and wider figure only tends to be emphasized with a Pixie cut.

With these tips in your pocket, we’ll talk more about the Pixie cut and share more information on it in our next of the series.
